Ahoy hoy!
...many of us have enjoyed those friday nights together, dancing around the aluminium pole, airing our grievances to the UK animation community and, around 11.15pm, testing our feats of strength on the doorman at festivus.
now we proudly present a festivus website which will allow you to widen your search for work in uk animation...and beyond! a place where companies can rest their weary heads and place jobs for you all. there will be games to play, chat rooms and prizes galore (these words may not be honoured). And fear not, for festivus will still be organising its evenings at the comedy for you all to dance and grievance air again.
festivus - the event - was started back in november 2003 by two shy and secretive (and some say gorgeous) young philanthropists (some say idiots), who would rather retain an air of mystery and remain anonymous. rob and ian, annoyed by the constant drunken rantings of animators, storyboard artists and richard nye, made a bold decision. then changed their minds and started festivus.
festivus the first took root in the upstairs room of an ancient and, some say, cursed public house with an sw1 postal code. 80 were invited and 200 turned up - and this was before myspace! a chord had been struck it seemed with the animation community, a discordant chord maybe, but a chord none-the-less. festivus is now in it's fifteenf incarnation and still takes place in the same accursed house of ill repute every 3rd cycle of the moon or so, strangely coinciding with the passing over of the monthly pay packet. this intrawebsite is a natural evolution from the event to help not only those already in animation find new work, but for those new to the industry to find a home, a community, an animation family if you will and get that all important start - bloody students.
enjoy the event. enjoy the site. enjoy your chosen career. you chose it, after all.
whatever...
